First Infantry Division

U.S.  Infantry soldiersWWII

The First Division strives to promote the WWII L.H.A and the hobby of living history / battle re-enactment. To do so the group maintains high standards of presentation, discipline and safety at both public and private events.

The First Division has focused its impression upon E Company, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, U.S. 1st Infantry Division. In doing so we can ensure that as far as possible the clothing, arms and equipment used gives an accurate representation of U.S. Infantry soldiers in Northwest Europe, with particular attention paid to the assault troops of D-Day 1944.

Our living history activities focus on the period around June 6th 1944. The Training Centre is representative of those found prior to D-Day in Southern England during 1943 and early 1944.

The encampments are either a pre-embarkation, or a rest area near the front after D-Day or front-line France as the event scenario dictates. The First Division is actively seeking new members to strengthen the position of the unit and the WWII L.H.A as one of the premier living history and battle re-enactment group.

THE FIRST INFANTRY DIVISION'S MOTTO:

NO MISSION TOO DIFFICULT; NO SACRIFICE TOO GREAT; DUTY FIRST,

The success of our living history group is dependent upon one thing: active members!  We want new members from all walks of life. Yet whether young or old, experienced or novice, what members MUST have in common is a love of history, respect for our veterans, and the desire to accurately portray the First Division in both its appearance AND spirit.

The First Division was unique; therefore doing a complete impression of such a unit requires great dedication.

The First Division is a unit that adheres to the military code of conduct. Real soldiers follow orders.

The same holds true of the First Division. We cannot accurately recreate the structure of a military unit without a realistic chain of command. If you aren't willing to follow instructions, and you aren't willing to work toward an authentic impression then the First Division is not for you.

In the spirit of the First Division, our standards are very important. This is necessary in order to ensure safety, endurance, and the proper image of a military unit of WWII. These standards are not meant to deter members, but to outline the expectations that we have of our membership. Only by creating and maintaining such high standards in uniform, equipment, and attitude can we respectfully represent the First Division.

The men of The First Division gave us their all ... they deserve nothing less from us!
